No statutory warranty on consignment sales, so dealers' warranty discount never comes off your car's price. How it works

Privacy policy

Last updated 19 October 2026

This policy explains how TradeBeat ("TradeBeat", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information. It covers this website, our customer self assessment and car inspection tools, and any dealings we have with you about selling your car. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We only collect what we need to assess, value and sell your car. Depending on how far you go with us, that can include:

  • Contact details: your name, mobile number, email address and suburb.
  • Car details: year, make, model, kilometres, registration, VIN, colour, condition, service history and the offer you have been given.
  • Your situation: whether finance is owing on the car, where it is, when you need to be out of it, and anything else you choose to tell us.
  • Photos and documents: photos of your car and any written offer, and the answers and damage markings from our self assessment.
  • Inspection records: notes, photos and findings from an inspection of your car.
  • If we sell or buy your car: identity documents such as a driver licence, proof of ownership, finance payout details, signatures, a PPSR search on the car, and the payment details we need to pay you.
  • If you sign documents with us online: a record of the signing, including the date and time of each step, the email address the one-time code was sent to, your IP address and the type of device and browser you used.
  • Records of contact: notes of calls, texts and emails between us.

We collect this directly from you, through our website forms, self assessment and inspections, or when you call, text or email us. We may also get information about the car (not about you) from public sources and from the Personal Property Securities Register.

You do not have to give us everything. If you leave something out we may not be able to give you an accurate estimate or sell your car.

Why we collect it

  • To respond to your enquiry and give you an estimate.
  • To contact you about your car, arrange an inspection and make or explain an offer.
  • To advertise and sell your car if you engage us, and to complete the paperwork.
  • To check the car is not stolen, written off or under finance we do not know about.
  • To confirm it was you who signed a document online, and to keep a record that it was signed.
  • To meet our legal, licensing, tax and record keeping obligations.
  • To understand how people use our website so we can improve it.

We will not use your details to market unrelated products to you, and we will never sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with:

  • Service providers who run our systems: Supabase (our database and photo storage, hosted in Sydney), Vercel (website and app hosting), Web3Forms (delivers website enquiries to our inbox) and Resend (sends our emails). They handle your information only to provide their service to us.
  • A PPSR search provider, which receives the car's VIN or registration to search the Personal Property Securities Register.
  • Buyers of your car, but only what a buyer reasonably needs to complete the sale, and only once you have engaged us to sell it.
  • Your finance company, if a payout is needed to sell the car.
  • Government bodies, regulators or police where the law requires or allows it.

We also use an AI service to research what similar cars are selling for. It receives car details and the general area only, not your name or contact details.

Overseas disclosure

Our database is hosted in Australia. Some of our service providers (website hosting, enquiry delivery and email) are based overseas, mainly in the United States, and may process or store information outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Website analytics and cookies

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits. It does not use cookies and does not identify you personally. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on this site. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

How we keep it secure

Your information is stored with access limited to our staff, behind individual logins. Identity documents and signed paperwork are held separately from general enquiry records. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries we did not proceed with for up to two years, so we can recognise you if you come back. If we sell or buy your car, we keep the records for as long as the law requires, which for sale and tax records is generally at least seven years. After that we delete or de-identify it.

Access, correction and deletion

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us at hello@tradebeat.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may have to keep some records where the law requires us to.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email us at hello@tradebeat.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
